History

Lindy LaFontaine was born in Berkeley, California. At three years old, she moved overseas to Bangladesh and spent much of her childhood living in South Asia and the Middle East, where she was exposed to a wide variety of musical traditions. Inspired by the music of the world, Lindy started singing, and playing guitar and piano at an early age.

Lindy started writing music in elementary school and performed her first open-mic in middle school. In high school, she spent half her time in Egypt, studying and performing Acting and Musical Theater before returning to the US where she studied Classical and Jazz music at the San Francisco School of the Arts.

Lindy then attended the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in England, a college founded by Sir Paul McCartney with an emphasis on Pop and Rock Music. While there, she studied under many famous musicians and producers such as Sir Paul McCartney, Malcolm McLaren (Sex Pistols), Gary Marx (Sisters of Mercy), and Sir George Martin. She also toured Spain as a backing vocalist with Spanish singer/songwriter Maria Jose Hernandez.

Upon returning to the U.S., she continued to perform in Las Vegas, New York, San Francisco, and Washington DC with various bands. Lindy now lives in Washington DC and is working on her solo album which will be available in July 2008. She is also playing cover sets along with original music with her band at local venues around DC and will be going on an East Coast tour in the fall of 2008.
